Sandplay Therapy & Aesthetic Response    Sunday, July 29, 2012   1:00 – 4:00 pm\

Northern California Art Therapy Association

San Jose Scottish Rite,  2455 Masonic Drive, San Jose

In this experiential workshop, fundamentals of sandplay therapy, as developed by Dora Kalff will be illustrated through the the sandplay case presentation of a child. The idea of respondiing aesthetically, focusing on sensation and emotion as opposed to thought or intellect will be applied. Through the use of art media, participants will explore their aesthetic response to the sandplay images presented. The parallels between creating a free and protected space in the consultation room and the impact this has on the client’s process will be highlighted, as well as the complimentary use of art and sandplay. There will be room for discussion and questions throughtout the afternoon

SOUND, VOICE & SONG IN PSYCHOTHERAPY

Friday, March 2, 2012

The Psychotherapy Institute-Berkeley:  3:45-6:00pm, FREE

In this experiential dialogue, I will share my experience of being both a depth psychotherapist, and a singer. My on-going voice training is a form of deep body and soul work. Techniques I work on in the studio with my teacher: making space, trusting that I have enough air, and letting my authentic voice sing out fully, have direct parallels to the process of psychotherapy and individuation, and I believe influence what happens in my consultation room. I look forward to discussing and connecting with others about these ideas, and will share how this intersection shows up in my practice.
